Getting To The Heart of It All

With more than 30 years in television news, I can guarantee this; everyone has a story. Yes, there are basic facts, data, statistics of all we experience in life, but the truth is people are the story. Our tales can be inspiring, heart-wrenching, informative, delicate or larger-than-life. But at the heart of it all, the reason we connect is because someone steps up to share their experiences; to bravely tell their story. It is that honesty, that rawness, that “there but for the grace of God “ moment, which resonates with viewers, thus making the facts so impactful and memorable.

One of the best ways for nonprofits to garner attention of donors and for businesses to promote their mission is to share the stories of those most impacted; the faces and voices of those who would benefit from an awareness campaign, legislation or funding effort. Yes, everyone has a cell phone and can videotape a testimonial, but that attempt to cut corners in production can backfire in embarrassment and bad press. Remember, social media is forever.

Crafting a message and developing a campaign takes expertise, knowledge, sensitivity and experience. Ready to learn how Storytelling can enhance your brand? Let’s connect! I have lots of ideas to share!
